QA Level 3 Award in First Aid At Work

This first aid training course is designed for first aiders in the modern workplace. It will equip employees with the confidence and practical skills to deal with a range of specific injuries and illnesses.

Course content:

Day 1

  • Aims of first aid and dealing with an emergency
  • Priorities of treatment
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Regurgitation
  • Face shield devices
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Hypoxia and chest injuries
  • Choking
  • Asthma and hyperventilation

Day 2

  • Bleeding wounds and minor injuries
  • Blood loss theory and internal bleeding
  • Severe bleeding
  • Wound hygiene, first aid kits, and dressings
  • Shock, including anaphylaxis
  • Angina and heart attack
  • Strokes
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning

Day 3

  • Fractures
  • Head injuries
  • Spinal injuries
  • Seizure
  • Diabetic problems and hypoglycaemia
  • Recording incidents and first aid actions

Course duration:

3 days

Assessment and certification:

  • Continuous assessment by first aid trainer
  • This first aid training course is valid for 3 years
