Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Course Overview

Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures, anaphylaxis and more.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who
have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Course Overview

During this 1 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, wounds and bleeding and minor injuries.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (QCF) has been specifically designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that
involves assisting and moving people. It is ideal for those working in a variety of health and social care environments such as care homes.

Course Overview

Over a 2 day period, Learners will develop the knowledge and skills relevant to manual handling of objects and the safe moving and handling of people. Topics covered include: common handling injuries, the potential impact to a person if moved incorrectly, personal handling plans, preserving dignity, health and safety when moving a person, using equipment and more.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children, Young People and Adults at Risk (RQF) qualification is intended for those who are working with children, young people and adults at risk, including those in voluntary or unpaid positions. This qualification is also suitable for those who have a specific responsibility in safeguarding and protecting in environments such as the NHS, education providers and social services.

Course Overview

During this 1/2 day course, Learners will develop a greater understanding of how to safeguard and protect children, young people and adults. Topics covered include: safeguarding and protection responsibilities, different forms of abuse and how to respond to disclosure or suspected abuse.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in the Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication (RQF) is intended for those who are employed by a Care Quality
Commission (CQC) registered organisation that have a specific responsibility at work to be able to safely administer and monitor the effects of medication within their scope of practice.

* Learners who wish to undertake the QA Level 3 Award in the Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication (RQF) must be employed by a CQC registered organisation and have successfully completed the QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) or a QA recognised equivalent qualification.

Course Overview

Successful Learners will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to safely provide lifesaving medication at emergency or life-threatening incidents. Topics covered include: common types of lifesaving medication, determining a patient’s condition, guidelines and protocols relevant to the administration of lifesaving medication.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in the Principles of Infection Prevention and Control (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility in infection prevention and control within their job roles, such as: the NHS or other healthcare environments.

Course Overview

Over a half day period, Learners will develop a greater understanding of the principles of infection prevention and control. Topics covered include: personal hygiene, policies and procedures for infection prevention and control and minimising the risk of infection in a Health Care setting.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility for
the treatment and/or management of casualties who need administration of emergency medical oxygen. This qualification is suitable for first aiders operating in a high risk environment, community first responders, cabin/film crew, fire, police and other emergency services personnel. 

*While achievement of this qualification confirms Learners have met both the theoretical and practical requirements, this does not imply a ‘license to practice’ – the scope of practice will be determined by the organisation responsible for oxygen provision. This qualification does not allow a Learner to obtain, store or administer oxygen without clinical governance.

Course Overview

Successful Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed for the safe, prompt and effective use of administering oxygen in an emergency. Topics covered include: clinical need for oxygen therapy, oxygen delivery devices and administering emergency oxygen.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility for providing treatment to patients who need medical gases administrating in prehospital care environments, such as: those working in the police force, fire service or private ambulance sector.

Course Overview

During this half course day, Learners will develop the necessary knowledge and skills needed for the safe, prompt and effective administration of emergency oxygen and analgesic agents. Topics covered include: pre-operational inspections and how to monitor and record its effects.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QCF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED.

Course Overview

Over a half day period, Learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics covered include: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, using an AED on both adults and children, combining AED use with CPR and more

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (QCF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide first aid and/or use an AED in an emergency.

Course Overview

During this half day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to administer effective CPR and use an AED when dealing with an emergency situation. Topics covered include: CPR, choking, safe use of an AED, using an AED on a child, AED maintenance and more.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (QCF) qualification has been designed for those who
have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.

Course Overview

Over a half day period, successful Learners will attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: managing a casualty with anaphylaxis, CPR, common anaphylaxis triggers, signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, treatment and more.
